I’m Laura and I have two beautiful daughters Darcy 15 … and Konnie 13. Our family is completed wit our gorgeous dog Harlow.
I became aware of Beechwood in 2014 when the girls needed support following the death of their dad. I felt that I was really struggling but Beechwood helped me find the words to talk with the girls and help support them when they needed me.
Beechwood worked with them to get them through those dark days and continues to support them today. They get time separately to go through how they are feeling and anything they are worried about. It’s their time and they know anything they discuss will stay private unless it can be shared with me.
As a family we attend family evenings at Beechwood where other families who have lost parents can get together and just chat. There are group activities for the girls and it’s great for them to meet with other young people in the same situation as them. It is really important that they know this isn’t just happening to them.
Darcy recently stood on the stage in front of 600 men to tell them her story and I have never been prouder. As a family we are committed to support Beechwood and I would ask that you donate whatever you can as every penny helps families like mine.
