About The Charity

Beechwood is a Charity based in Stockport, established in 1990 to support people from across the Northwest affected by cancer or other life-limiting illnesses.

Our team of professionals are available to help with the shock of diagnosis and the emotional effects of treatment, complemented by a wide variety of practical support – not only for the person directly affected but family and friends too.

The Charity’s services are free of charge at point of need, and we offer a package of support tailored to suit the individual, including one-to-one counselling, clinical hypnotherapy, Mindfulness, complementary therapies, support groups, diet, exercise or simply a coffee and a chat.

In addition, we:

  • Help children come to terms with the illness or loss of a parent or family member
  • Help carers cope with the difficulties and uncertainty that the illness of a loved one can bring
  • Support clients who are ready to move on, exploring on-going support options
  • Provide guidance and support to those ready to return to work
  • Provide one-to-one support, facilitated groups and peer support groups to help the bereaved

Purpose of Job

As Beechwood’s Fundraising & Marketing Assistant, you will have a keen interest in charity fundraising, events, and marketing.  You will have a hands-on role in supporting and engaging community fundraising volunteers and groups, ensuring they are valued.  You will assist with co-ordinating core fundraising processes, event preparation, and support fundraising events whilst providing general day-to-day assistance with the marketing and social media needs of the Charity.

The role will report to the Fundraising & Events Manager, though collaboration with other managers will be required to ensure successful internal and external events.

You will be instrumental in establishing and managing a range of external and internal relationships, with a personable, approachable style being imperative.

Working in a small, busy, and passionate team, the Fundraising & Marketing Assistant will provide important administrative and creative support, including supporting communications, both internal and external.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

General

  • Responding to telephone and email enquiries from supporters and prospective supporters, providing fundraising information
  • Co-ordinating and managing collection buckets
  • Acknowledging and thanking volunteers and fundraisers who have raised money for the charity
  • Monitoring stock levels and ordering fundraising supplies
  • Assist the Fundraising & Events Manager in identifying new and creative fundraising ideas for community fundraising and events
  • Ongoing system management of our donor recognition platform
  • General office and fundraising administrative duties

 Social Media

  • Increase interest, support, engagement, and income received through social media accounts (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn), digital channels and online giving pages

 Marketing

  • Using and suggesting new digital tools to improve the Charity’s reach, image, donor base, services, and ways of working
  • Managing email marketing, including marketing campaigns to healthcare and education professionals
  • Support and assist in sourcing material for periodic vibrant supporter newsletters and identify internal methods of communication across the charity/team
  • Support the development of a suite of information and marketing literature to be used to promote the Charity’s services

Representation and Participation

  • Be the main point of contact in the charity for third party, volunteer fundraisers, providing support, advice and encouragement ensuring the highest level of supporter care
  • Engaging and leading each individual relationship to deepen a long-term partnership with the charity
  • Working closely with our Fundraising and Events Manager to support fundraising and marketing goals and objectives
  • Promote the Charity’s events in local communities to encourage participation and relationships
  • Proactively participate in internal and external in-house fundraising events
  • Uphold Beechwood’s ethos and values
  • Ensure Beechwood’s fundraising and event support and engagement is of high quality

• Degree or equivalent/experience in fundraising, events, marketing, graphics, design, or media studies
